THAT TIME WHEN MY LEGS WERE ALL SHAKY.
In 2017, I lost my head and thought running a marathon sounded like something I should do. 🤦♀️ So I began serious training and set my sights on the Twin Cities Marathon.
Now, I wasn’t a runner to begin with – I’m a dancer. I have a BFA in Dance Performance from Northern Illinois University and an MBA from Carlson School of Business. So running was not my thing. But, as I said, I was possessed.
The short story is: I trained hard, entered the Twin Cities Marathon, and successfully completed it. Shaky legs, queasy stomach, emotional roller coaster, and all.
The longer story is one I’m sure you can tell, too. Long hours and many days pounding the roads and trails. Being mindful of diet and liquids consumed. Nursing blisters and finding the right combination of shoes, socks, and apparel, for all weather conditions.
It was during this time that I experienced what I think all runners have, the need to travel light, but carry essentials on my person. I was frustrated by not having a good way to carry basic things like tissue, keys, money or ID. It was during these long runs that an idea began to take shape for a simple glove that could solve this basic need for runners.
And so, after many hours of research, lots of designs, prototyping and re-prototyping, patent and trademark applications, pattern making, and go-to-market planning, you have in your hands, the first run of Jack & Goose technical running gloves.
Jack and Goose are the actual names of a pair of Shepherd mixes my husband adored. They were all the things you expect of a Shepherd – loyal, smart, protective, strong, loving. So they are the sentimental namesake of this company, and we hope to reflect these characteristics they embodied and shared with us.
I look forward to hearing about your experience with these gloves. And I truly value your feedback. Thank you for taking part in this important step of bringing this brand to market, and my concept to life!
